Room 7: Demolition Day!
What an exciting morning at school today! We watched part of the old Junior Block being demolished.
Room 21: Insects
Last week Room 21 started the term learning about insects. Our big book was called 'Stick Insects'. We had many questions, such as where can stick insects be found, and what do they eat?
On Tuesday we went on a nature trail and explored the school playground. We were looking for good places to find stick insects. We also collected different kinds of sticks to create our own stick insects in the classroom.

Room 7: 100 Days at School
This week we have been celebrating 100 days at school.
We had a 100 piece Lego challenge today - what a great thing to do on a rainy morning at school! Each group had 100 assorted pieces of Lego, and they worked together to construct one collaborative item out of their pieces.
The children shared their ideas, worked together, took turns, negotiated and problem-solved. What a group of motivated, engaged learners Room 7 are!

Room 7: A Special Visitor
Today Room 7 had a very special visitor. Mrs Bartlett bought her friend Bill in to see us. He is 91 years old! Bill had heard what a fabulous class we are and made us a wooden train - just like the one he made for his great-grandson. We had a lot of fun unwrapping each part and putting it together. Thank you Bill and Mrs Bartlett!

Room 7: Play Based Learning
Room 7 took advantage of the empty space in the old Junior block for a play based learning experience today. The children problem solved, shared, co-operated, and used some amazing imaginative language during this time. They weren't keen to stop, even for brain food!

Room 7: Chicks at Northcote Kindergarten
Room 7 managed to dodge the rain this afternoon, and visited Northcote Kindergarten to see their newly hatched chicks. We got to see the egg that one of them came out of. Then we all had a turn at gently patting one of the chicks. They were so cute!

Room 7: Loose Parts
Room 7 was given some loose parts - small timber offcuts, cardboard tubes, wires, and cable reels. The children enjoyed working together, problem solving and creating.
Room 21: Maths Flowers
On Monday we created Maths flowers. We were given a milk bottle lid with a number on it and we had to cut the same amount of petals for our flowers. When our flowers were finished we placed them in order and practised counting forwards and backwards.
Room 21: Life Education
The Life Education bus was at school for the last two weeks. We learned that we are all VIPs. Harriett and Harold the giraffe told us that we are very special people and there is no one else in the world like us! We also talked about friendships and ways that we can stay safe and happy in the playground.

Room 7's 'Gloop' Experience
This week Room 7 have been reading the shared book 'Mud Walk' by Joy Cowley. As a sensory and language experience today the children got to play with gloop, which is the nearest thing to mud we could make at school. They enjoyed being able to squish, squash, squeeze and stretch!

Room 21's Pink Pigs
Room 21 read one of the 'Mrs Wishy-Washy' series of shared books. A pig was one of the characters in the story. Room 21 made pink pigs using paper plates and egg cartons. The children then described their pigs.
Room 8's 'The Giant's Icecream'
Room 8 have been reading the shared book The Giant's Icecream. We problem solved about how to make a giant. After a lot of discussion the children decided to draw an outline, paint it, cut it and stuff it with newspaper. We love our giant!
